Every year, the Festival proposes a journey from our stages, screens and spaces to a specific place. A thread that runs through the event, from the idea to the image, to the opening show, films and exhibitions. The Georgian Caucasus will be the destination of this journey. Mountains, cultures, lives, songs, dance and adventure.

A toast to the Caucasus and its people

Gaumarjos!, on November 14 at 9pm at the Cirvianum Theatre, is the name of this year's opening show. A unique evening of homage to Georgian culture and the dark mountains of the Caucasus, which will bring together three outstanding voices who maintain a close relationship with the mountains and culture of the Caucasus: the prestigious Georgian film director Mariam Khatchvani, the freerider Núria Castán and the mountain guide Xavi Llongueras. Georgian polyphonic music, declared an Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, will be played, thanks to the performance of the Vocal Vircan – group with eight singers, half of Georgian origin and the other half Catalan, recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the government of Georgia – and the Georgian dancer resident in Torelló Mariami Tserediani.

More activities

The program dedicated to the Georgian Caucasus does not end here. We will be able to watch films such as The Men's Land, by Mariam Katchvani herself, and Placekeepers, by Robert Hope and Anna R. Japaritze. The Foyer of the Cirvianum will host the exhibition Pedaling the Caucasus, on the way to China, photographically documenting the bicycle trip of Ricard Calmet and Alba Xandri. At the Casal, the high mountain guide and photographer Xavi Llongueras will present the conference The Caucasus, the mountain range to discover.
