CLIMATE CYCLES, A GOING AND BACK FROM COLD TO HEAT
Glaciology – Climatology
We are immersed in strong global warming. Is it just a consequence of human activity or do climate cycles have something to do with it? We will give tools to guide the future of our descendants in a habitable planet that we must share with other species. We will do it with the help of ice, the best natural indicator of climate change, and enjoying the magnificent images that nature provides us.
Jordi Camins, glaciologist. Member of the Group of Experts on Climate Change of Catalonia. Author of numerous articles and books on glacier regression.

MALLORY VS NORTON
100 years ago, Mallory and Irvine disappeared on Mount Everest. The mystery of whether they reached the top has never been solved. A re-reading of the original sources reveals that Edward Norton, the leader of the expedition, and his best alpinist, George Mallory, never agreed on the strategy to follow to reach the summit. Without that disagreement, the outcome of the ascension cannot be understood.

Interview with... EDU MARÍN
Edu Marín (Barcelona, 1985). He started in the sports competition at the state level and in the World Cup. In 2012 he decided to undertake his own projects, highlighting in 2020 the climbing of Valhalla, a route in the Getu arch in China, of difficulty 9a+. In 2023, helped by his brother Alex and his father Novato, he achieved the second free ascent of the Eternal Flame route to the “Nameless Tower”. Precisely the film of this climb will be shown at the festival.
Interview: Quim Pons (Director of Vertex and communication of the FEEC).
Round table: ARE WE SAFE ON THE MOUNTAIN?
In recent years, the number of people practicing mountain activities has increased significantly. This has also led to an increase in accidents in this area. We wonder what the safest way is to go to the mountains. What should we do before leaving home? Can we predict the conditions we will encounter on the mountain?
Speakers: Pere Esteban (Meteocat technician), Laura Robles (member of the FEEC Safety Committee and GRAE mountain rescue doctor), Marc Sellarès (experienced injured mountaineer) and Queralt Tor (director of the PN Cadí Moixeró).
Moderator: Quim Pons (Director of Vèrtex and communication of the FEEC)
Round table: CATALANS IN THE HIMALAYAS: 40 YEARS OF THE FIRST EUROPEAN EXPEDITION
In 1984, an all-female team organized an expedition to climb Kangtega (6,782m) in the Himalayas. In addition to achieving the goal, they became pioneers by paving the way in a sport practically dominated by men. It was the first female European expedition and the second worldwide to set a goal of these characteristics.
Speakers: Meri Puig (head of expedition), Mari Carme Magdalena (Coco), Mònica Verge and Esperança Capella (Piti)
Moderator: Nati Adell (journalist from Catalunya Ràdio)
Round table: ROUTES AND MOUNTAIN PATHS: KEY TO THE PROMOTION AND CONSERVATION OF NATURAL AND CULTURAL HERITAGE
The table will focus on the fundamental role that mountain routes and paths play in the promotion and conservation of our natural and cultural heritage. The session will bring together experts and professionals from the field to discuss the multiple dimensions surrounding this vital issue.
Speakers: Albert Martín (head of the Tourist Infrastructure Unit), Josep Casanovas (vice-president of the FEEC (responsible for the Network of Certified Paths of Catalonia)), Silvia Arau (technical coordinator of routes and paths) and Albert Vilana (marketing director from Buff Entre Refugios).
Moderator: Agnès Güell (director of tourism projects at Extrem Team).
Talk: CLIMATE EMERGENCY IN THE PYRENEES: CHANGES IN THE CLIMATE AND LANDSCAPE OF THE MOUNTAIN RANGE. HOW DO WE ADAPT TO IT?
Global warming does not stop, and temperature records continue to be broken. Catalonia is one of the areas on the planet that is warming up the fastest and the Pyrenees is particularly vulnerable to this new climate scenario, with unprecedented heat that endangers its ecosystem. In this talk, the main changes observed in the climate and landscape of the mountain range will be presented, and how it is expected to evolve over the coming years.
By Martí Oliveras (RAC1/RAC105 meteorologist)
KILEMA (Clément Randrianantoandro) is a musician originally from Madagascar with more than forty years of experience in world music. Always faithful to the cultural tradition of his country, this vocalist, composer and multi-instrumentalist works especially with the indigenous instruments of Madagascar.
From his residence in Córdoba he has projected his music on five continents. In more than forty countries they have been able to enjoy a rich personal style, which fuses roots music and so-called "world music". Four albums on the market summarize his recording career, although among experts the strength of his live concerts always stands out: he is a natural communicator with an extraordinary ability to connect with all kinds of audiences and backgrounds.
The concert will be accompanied by his brother Nesta.
BEAUTIFUL MADAGASCAR
Through the photographs of Pierrot Men, Kike Carbajal and Vincent Verra we will delve into the cultural and landscape wealth of Madagascar, the Great Red Island. A true paradise unique in the world. Its insularity has allowed the preservation of ancestral rites and customs.
The exhibition is a production of the Fundación Agua de Coco, a foundation that works in Madagascar in educational projects to fight against child labour exploitation and in various activities aimed at girls and boys at risk of social exclusion.

SNOW STARS, FILM SKIERS
The exhibition is a collection of posters, hand programs and stills from the films that, from the different cinematographic genres, have tried to seduce the viewer by placing skis at the feet of the great film stars. Conversely, some skiers and skaters, world or Olympic champions, showed, with greater or lesser luck, their acting skills on the big screen.
