Yvan Estienne, born in a valley near the Alpine massif of the Ecrins, was meant to be a shepherd or a worker in an Alpine valley. His passion for the mountains and the desire for discovery made him dream of a trip to Antarctica. Finally he was able to experience the mythical places once visited by the intrepid adventurers of the early twentieth century.
