EL TIBET. TERRA DE NEUS, TERRA DE DÉUS (Tibet. Land of Snow, Land of Gods)
Friday 22_01_21 / 19:30h / Teatre CIRVIANUM
Tibet, an immense plateau at more than 4,000 meters of elevation, is currently under Chinese rule. Despite the widespread belief that the Snow Country has been isolated, its history reveals it has been closely linked to Eastern culture. The high mountains, the harsh climate and landscape, and the immensity of the territory have preserved many enigmas and have kept alive, although threatened, its cultural, historical and religious features. Perhaps this is why it has always attracted travelers eager to discover its secrets.
A journey through cinema with the participation of Josep Lluís Alay (Tibetologist, director of the Observatory of Tibet and Central Asia at the University of Barcelona), Toni Arbonès (journalist and director of the radio program Els viatgers de la Gran Anaconda in Catalunya Ràdio), Núria Balagué (mountaineer, she has climbed Shisha Pangma and Everest, both in Tibet), Thubten Wangchen (Tibetan lama, director of the House of Tibet in Barcelona and parliamentarian of the Tibetan Parliament in exile) and Quim Casas (film critic).
