EVEREST: A MOTHER’S PEAK

Paul Diffley. G. Bretanya. 2026. 59’

When Slovak scientist and mother Lucia Janicova discovers that no Slovak woman has ever climbed Everest, she sees it as a symbol of the deep gender inequality that has shaped both her society and her own life. Determined to break these barriers, she sets out to reach the roof of the world. As her journey unfolds, we learn more about her past, marked by abuse, rape and a difficult childhood, and how she transforms this pain into the strength to climb.
