Numbi is a village hidden among the mountains of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. There, miners extract coltan by hand, a mineral essential to the world’s most industrialised countries. For decades, this “grey gold”, indispensable to the production of almost every modern technological device, has been a source of conflict and shameful exploitation.
